Does eBay notify you of new listings?

Yes. Save a search and eBay emails you when new listings match it, at most once a day. In the app, a saved search can send push notifications too.

Is it possible to make eBay alerts faster?

No, they are sent out on a set schedule. The faster option is checking yourself: open the saved search sorted by newest, and in the app flip “New results only” on the Saved screen so each visit shows just what’s new since your last look.

eBay’s own alerts work through saved searches. This is how you set one up.

  1. Search, then save the search

Search for the thing you’re hunting on eBay.com. Next to the results count there’s a heart labelled “Save this search”. Click it (you’ll need to be signed in).

“Save this search”, right of the results count
  2. Saving turns on email alerts automatically

There’s no opt-in and no settings screen. A tooltip will confirm that the search was saved: “We’ll send you an email when there’s something new.”

  3. Your searches live in My eBay

They’re under My eBay → Saved searches.

  4. Turn alerts off and back on later

Open “More actions” next to the search (in list view). There’s no switch, just a menu item that reads “Stop email alerts” while alerts are on and “Get email alerts” after you turn them off.

“Unsave” in the same menu deletes the search entirely.

The honest answer

Are eBay alerts reliable?

Broadly, yes. For casual watching, a saved search does its job.

The limits show when you lean on them. Only newly listed items trigger an alert, so relists and revised listings pass without one. And the daily email is a batch: everyone watching the same search hears about the same listing at the same time.

None of this makes eBay's alerts broken. They just aren't built for speed: a rare or underpriced listing is often gone before the next email goes out.

This is how the same setup looks in the Android app.

  1. Save the search from the results page

Search in the app, then tap “Save this search” under the search bar.

  2. Pick email, push, or both

A “Search saved!” sheet opens right away. “Emails” and “Push notifications” both start on; switch off what you don’t want and tap “Confirm”.

  3. Saved searches sit under My eBay → Saved

  4. Each search has its own toggles

Tap the three-dot menu next to a search. “Get email alerts” and “Subscribe to push notifications” switch separately, any time.

FAQ

Frequently asked by fellow collectors.

01 How often does eBay send saved-search emails?
At most once a day, and only for newly listed items. Relists and revised listings don't trigger an email, and there's no setting to make it faster.
02 Why am I not receiving my eBay saved-search emails?
It's a common complaint on eBay's forums: the emails arrive late, skip days, or stop until you recreate the search. GrailHound runs its own checks, so your alerts don't depend on eBay's emails.
03 Can I track multiple eBay country sites at once?
Yes. One tracker can watch eBay US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Australia and more at the same time. A native saved search only covers the site you created it on.
04 What is GrailHound?
GrailHound is a marketplace alert tool for collectors and resellers. You set up trackers for keywords and we alert you when they show up on one of your marketplaces. Our goal is to make sure that you are the first to the listing.
05 Why would I use GrailHound versus searching directly?
Hidden gems surface when you least expect them, and no one can search every marketplace all day. GrailHound keeps a constant watch, so you save the time and still catch your grails.
06 How often do you search?
The free plan searches up to 3 marketplaces every 30 minutes. Paid plans go up to 10 marketplaces and can scan every 2 minutes.
07 How are alerts sent?
Email, push notifications from the GrailHound app, or notifications in your browser. There are also webhooks for more technical use cases.
08 Am I notified of every single new listing?
Yes, if you want to be. You can also filter: set a price range, include or exclude keywords, or write an AI prompt that checks each listing before the alert goes out.
09 Do you buy or bid for me?
No. GrailHound is a monitoring and alerting tool.
