A Worlds No. 1 Trainer sold for $68,000.
The TCG and the video game division each ran three age groups for the 2015 Pokemon World Championship, and the champion of each was awarded one. The 6 champions walked away with this special Pikachu card that year.
This copy is graded CGC 8. It was listed on eBay in November 2025 at $74,500 and was still there nine months later, with more than 60 watchers, when the seller accepted an offer of $68,000 on August 10, 2026.
Cards like this usually sell through auction houses. Goldin sold a complete 2014 set of the No. 1 through No. 4 trainers for $384,400 in February 2026, per Auction Report. Neither the buyer nor the seller here has been named. The listing didn't state which division's copy it was.
Two kinds of No. 1 Trainer
No. 1 Trainer cards go back to Japan's first official tournaments in 1997, and the design changes from year to year. A line along the bottom edge of the 2015 print says: "Play only one No. 1 Trainer card per year."
Not every copy on the market was won. The Pokémon Company punches a hole through its internal copies to void them, and those reach auction too. Landry Pop Auctions sold a punch-cancelled 2015 No. 1 Trainer in August 2025, graded CGC 8, from the collection of a former Pokémon Company employee. The lot description put that internal run at fewer than ten. It sold for $21,960 against an $8,000 to $12,000 estimate. The label on this one notes no cancellation.
